She was like any other normal girl when she was small. Lived happily with her parents. Long short story, one day disaster came. Her father's life became miserable. He lost his job and abused his wife and her. A few years later her mother died, got abused too much I assume. She somehow survived and ran away from home, she couldn't stand it anymore.

And she fainted deep in the woods.

It was actually winter season, and it was cold. She thought her life would end there.

And she heard a singing. Not really a singing, but someone humming a lullaby. She can't move, she felt that her death was calling, it was so near; and so the humming.

"So tell me your wish." She heard someone said. The voice was beautiful, elegantly wonderful, and the language the person used was so charming. Suddenly, she felt like a kind of cloth on her head, it was warm. It was a hand, with glove on it. The hand caress her hair, it has been a while since she last felt such comfort.

"You've been through a harsh life, now that you wonder why the world is so cruel. You wonder if you ever did anything wrong that you deserve to be treated like this. You poor, sweet innocent creature."

She didn't know how to react. She didn't know what to do. If really she'll be given a wish, she wish that she would escape from the horror that binds her from her very dark life. She wish to be free, free from the grasp that pulls her into the darkness of the unwanting path.

She wanted to run away from her father.

Oh by the way, this is just a picture of Marquis and the Thorn Maiden. Everyone would say Marquis is a magician, or similar to it, but he is not a magician actually. I can't really describe what actually, but he was the one with contract with the Thorn Maiden, and there's a story behind that (so yeah, accordingly to the above story, to be continued XD).

I wanted to make this drawing looks old, like some kind of a memory or something. Not sure if I succeed or not.

Marquis was like a lonely wanderer or something, that grants people's wishes. He was one of the myth that has been told by people that if you find him or he finds you, your life may will be in luck, or would be in the worst state ever. It is never showed before, but Marquis wears white glove on his right hand and black glove on his left hand, the white gloves symbolizes everything good upon it and otherwise on the black glove. It is said that if you made a contract with him, the price would be highly expensive, not in a form of money or valuable stuffs whatsoever, but something that holds an extreme significance in your life. Honestly, the Thorn Maiden shows her emotions obviously to Marquis, because he saved her (though at some time later prisoned her), means actually she feels more comfortable with him. Their story will be reveal more later.

Yeah, sorry, not coloured, because I feel nauseous (lol weird) doing digital colouring for now so I want to give a try with grayscale for now in a traditional way (and I only have grayscale copics).

The only thing lack in this drawing is that I didn't draw the bruises and blood on the Thorn Maiden, I kinda forgot. Oh well.

The title is from the French language, means Snow.
